NAHMA HUD Update: Reminder of Requirements Pertaining to Lead-Based Paint Inspection and Disclosure Forms

October 21, 2016

Earlier this month, HUD issued the following notice which provides notification that a Real Estate Assessment Center (REAC) inspector will soon be inspecting one or more developments within your portfolio to confirm that lead-based paint risk assessments, inspection records, and lead disclosure forms are available and up to date.

This inspection comes in the wake of the events in Flint, MI. Exposure to lead remains a major environmental health problem in the United States, especially on neurological development for young children. HUD seeks to remind all program participants of its Lead-Based Paint Poisoning Prevention regulations in 24 CFR Part 35. This notice describes the regulations in detail and provides notification of upcoming REAC inspections.

The notice may be found here.
