NAHMAnalysis - The Impact of Opportunity Zones: An Initial Assessment by the White House Council of Economic Advisors

October 8, 2020

Dear NAHMA Members,

Today, NAHMA published a NAHMAnalysis, The Impact of Opportunity Zones: An Initial Assessment by the White House Council of Economic Advisers. Opportunity Zones were created in 2017 to allow investors to avoid federal capital gains tax by reinvesting their profits in funds that invest in high poverty or low income designated census tracts. This NAHMAnalysis explores the question of whether Opportunity Zones increased investment in impoverished communities, and if those investments will ultimately lead to an increase in the supply of affordable housing . The NAHMAnalysis is available here.
