NAHMA HUD Update: HUD Announces Additional MAP Guide Briefing Webinars (March 9 and March 17, 2021)

February 25, 2021

Dear NAHMA Members,

HUD has recently announced the availability of two additional MAP Guide Briefing Webinars in March, with a focus on Environmental Review and Requirements. On January 8, 2021 HUD announced the availability of the new Multifamily Accelerated Processing Guide 2020 (MAP Guide). The new MAP Guide established a national standard of practice and procedure for approved lenders to prepare, underwrite, and submit loan applications for FHA multifamily mortgage insurance. The MAP Guide provides guidance for HUD staff, lenders, third party consultants, borrowers, and other industry participants and HUD has prepared MAP Guide Briefing Webinars to discuss the MAP Guide and to highlight changes from the 2016 version. The use of the 2020 MAP Guide is mandatory for all applications filed on or after March 18, 2021.

Webinar 4 will focus on Chapter 9, Environmental Review and Requirements, with emphasis on radon gas detection, testing, and remediation in multifamily properties proposed for mortgage insurance. The webinar will take place on March 9, 2021 at 2:00—3:30 PM (EST) and interested members can register here.

Webinar 5 will focus on Chapter 9, Environmental Review and Requirements, with emphasis on delegation to FHA Lenders to initiate Section 106 Consultation with State Historic Preservation Officers (SHPOs) under certain circumstances. The webinar will take place on March 17, 2021 at 2:00—3:30 PM (EST) and interested members can register here.
